Du = macrobeat attack · de/da/di = microbeat · REST = silent subdivision · HOLD = sustain, without a new attack.

Rule: REST is silent pulse, not dead time. HOLD sustains through the occupied microbeats. Do not re-attack Du inside a hold.

Teaching flow

1) Hear every subdivision. 2) Add one rest. 3) Add a 2-microbeat hold. 4) Add a macrobeat hold. 5) Mix attack, sustain, and silence. 6) Echo. 7) Quiet recall while the internal pulse continues.
